Speaking Into the Air
Video / Animation / Poem / Music

〈Speaking Into the Air〉
〈Speaking Into the Air〉 is a video work illustrating the communication between human and nature as equals.
The air, which has been present in the world ever since the birth of the Earth, is literally the source of our life. It is also a medium for light (visual information) and sound (auditory information), which are essential for the social activities = communication.
In this work, I reconsider the relationship between human and nature through my speaking to the air. The language invented by human gradually shifts to the sound of the piano, and poetry transforms into music in this video. As if going backwards into human history, the existence of myself as a human gradually disappears and I become a part of nature. Through the seemingly meaningless activity of speaking to nature, it paradoxically reveals the excessive rationality of modern society and the emotions it excludes.

the air

you
connect me
with the world

you
bring me
the words

you
are always
in between

you
are always
invisible

you
are always
here

as you are

if
I were you

I
would echo
the feeble voice

I
would be part of
the gentle breeze

I
would walk through
the lonely sky

you
are here

I
am here

I speak to you

I sing with you

I see you
